Downloadable Audiobooks and Ebooks @ FML

The Freeport Memorial Library provides access to several collections of downloadable audiobooks and ebooks for both adults and children.

Nassau Digital Doorway (Powered by Overdrive)

The Nassau Digital Doorway collection allows you to download digital versions of popular titles to your computer, iPod/iPhone/iPad, or Android device. From your computer, you can read the titles on the screen, or transfer them to a portable device. Some audio titles may be burned to CD.

The database contains titles for adults, young adults, and children. You may have up to 5 audiobooks/ebooks checked out to your account at one time. You have access to the audiobooks you have checked out for a period of 7 days, and ebooks for a period of 14 days. To check out an audio/ebook, you will be asked to select your library from the list, then enter the 14-digit barcode from your Library Card. Please contact the Library (516-379-3274) for assistance.

Note that before you can download and play the audiobooks, you must download and install the Overdrive Media Console. Before you can download and use ebooks, you must download and install Adobe Digital Editions. Both programs can be downloaded free from the Nassau Digital Doorway page.

Disney Digital Books

Online, interactive versions of your favorite Disney stories. These Disney titles are also available through the Nassau Digital Doorway.

Tumblebooks Library

The Tumblebooks Library is a collection of ebooks and audiobooks specifically for children and young adults. These ebooks and audiobooks must be used on the computer, and may not be transferred to a portable device. Click on the logo to begin.

Sesame Street Ebooks

Sesame Street eBooks offers access to more than 150 digital books that can be used on your computer, or iPad. All of the books are based on Sesame Street's early childhood curriculum. Four different formats are included: read along books, audiobooks, animated books, and interactive books. A parents section is included that provides helpful tips for reading with your child. Project Gutenberg

Project Gutenberg is the first and largest single collection of free electronic books, or ebooks. Michael Hart, founder of Project Gutenberg, invented ebooks in 1971 and continues to inspire the creation of ebooks and related technologies today. Click on the logo to browse their catalog of over 30,000 ebooks and audiobooks. These titles may be downloaded to your ebook reader or mp3 player.
